Simon says: “Imagine a world in which the vast majority of us wake up inspired, feel safe at work and return home fulfilled at the end of the day.”

Well, it’s actually Simon Sinek says, but let’s be honest, how many of us can relate to the above statement? I mean most of us wake up, go to work, earn money, go home, balance life, washing, socialising, kids, pets and and and… then we wake up and do it all again the next day. Phew! Exhausting right?

With that being said, it makes it even more important to ask yourself those questions. Do you wake up inspired? Feel safe at work? Do you feel fulfilled at the end of the day?

We took it upon ourselves to answer those important questions and it got us thinking, A LOT.

So what did we do? We started on our journey, as Team Metis, to discover our WHY. The movement comes from the legend himself, Simon Sinek. Find out more about his Start With Why philosophy and his Golden Circle technique in the video below:

Our Why Discovery Session:

We dedicated a day to finding our WHY. All the Metis Rockstars attended the self discovery workshop facilitated by the lovely Keri Raciti.

Our first task was to split into groups and speak about what inspired us as individuals to join Metis and what inspires us to keep coming back.

After some of us shared our stories, we then gathered into our groups again to cover three main topics of conversation throughout the day which included:

  • To tell specific stories of when we have felt most proud to work for Metis
  • In each of the stories, what was the specific contribution made to the lives of others? (we were to express this in the form of a basic verb/action phrase)
  • What did the contributions of Metis allow others to go on to do or be?

After all was said and done we used all of our responses to finally draft our WHY statement which goes a little something like this… To inspire and empower individuals and companies to reach their full potential so that they can have a meaningful impact on their communities.

Do you know your organizations why? We encourage you to take on this exercise within your company and discover your why!
